Why Choose Entropy Resin

We decided to carry Entropy Resins and only Entropy Resins because they are the best we could find. Not only are their products formulated and engineered to produce the highest quality end product, but they also take crucial steps towards reducing their environmental impact.

Sustainability

OUR SUSTAINABLE EPOXIES ARE NOT JUST MADE BETTER, THEY’RE MADE RESPONSIBLY

Entropy Resins takes pride in creating epoxy resins and hardeners that lower their impact on the environment without compromising performance. Through green chemistry, sustainable raw materials, and efficient manufacturing, they conserve energy, minimize harmful byproducts, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Using Life Cycle Assessment, Entropy can demonstrate how their epoxies reduce the environmental impact of your end products. They also do third-party biobased content testing certified by the USDA. No unsubstantiated “green” claims here… Entropy Resins just makes things better.

Super Sap

ENTROPY RESINS DEVELOPED SUPER SAP TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE THEIR IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING PERFORMANCE

Through green chemistry, biobased and rapidly renewable raw materials, and efficient manufacturing, Entropy’s Super Sap technology conserves energy, minimizes harmful byproducts, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Entropy uses third-party laboratories to measure the biobased content of their products. Every Super Sap resin product is certified under the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product label program. Using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Entropy quantifies how Super Sap technology reduces the environmental impact from production that ultimately reduces the carbon footprint of their customers’ products. As scientists and engineers, Entropy believes that green should be more than a color. They back up their sustainability claims with hard data.

Biobased

WE KNOW THAT EVEN BIOBASED EPOXY RESINS CAUSE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

This is why Entropy conducted Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to determine how replacing petroleum-based raw materials with biobased Super Sap formulations affects the environment. Using a method of radiocarbon dating developed by USDA and international standards bodies, they verify the carbon content in their products. They’re transparent about how much of their product comes from bio-materials such as plants versus petroleum-based raw materials. Entropy Resins participates in the USDA BioPreferred Program. They developed and manufactured the first epoxy product certified under the USDA Certified Biobased Product label program.

Today, all Entropy Resins products meet the program criteria and are USDA Certified Biobased Products.

Bio-Content vs Mixed Biobased Carbon Content

  • (BC) Bio-Content is the term used to describe the level of biobased content in Entropy Resins before they are mixed with a hardener. Resin has a higher bio-content than hardener so the ratio goes down once mixed.
  • (MBBC) Mixed Biobased Carbon Content is the term used to describe the level of biobased content in Entropy Resins once you have mixed resin with the hardener.

Life Cycle Assessment

WE BELIEVE A MAJOR PART OF SUSTAINABILITY IS TRANSPARENCY

That’s why we provide our Entropy products’ Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data to our customers. LCA evaluates the environmental impact of a product through its entire life cycle. It begins with the extraction and processing of the raw materials and encompasses manufacturing, distribution, use, recycling, and final disposal. Entropy works with third-party product stewardship practitioners to create LCA models for their products that are based on international standards. Our customers can use these models to help build LCA models for their own end products. We provide our customers with hard data so they understand our products’ life cycle and can quantify the environmental benefits of using Entropy in their own products.
Finally, Entropy doesn’t grow plants and turn them into epoxy. The biobased raw materials used to create their epoxy resins and hardeners are sourced as co-products or waste products of other industrially important processes. These materials don’t compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture. By choosing raw materials and using green chemistry, Entropy reduces their environmental impact from processing. LCA is a tool that quantifies this benefit.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Data

Manufacturing one gallon of Entropy Resins Epoxy with Super Sap technology saves over the industry average:

  • Energy saved – charging 1,300 smartphones
  • Water saved – 85 servings of water (16 fl.oz.)
  • Pollution prevented – driving 10 miles in a car

You can evaluate the benefits of bio-based epoxy systems and how they affect the environment by viewing Entropy’s full report.
